hemingway often thought of courage as a person's ability to be calm andcontrolled in the face of theme is presented in his novel "for whomthe bell tolls?" the story "the old man and the sea" and in our textbook "aday's wait" misunderstanding a different thermometer the boy thought he wasrunning a high fever and would soon he took his death bravely and waitedquietly for boy showed us he had courage.

i think such a definition ofcourage is far from age should not be limited and related only ordinary life there are common things that also show a person' example,on a bus trip,a thief was trying to steal a girl' people saw it,but kept were afraid to be revenged by brave stood out and stopped the thief.

courage means truth andjustice to person in a high position often hear songs in praise people are are only flattering the superior in their leader also needs courage to welcome criticism as well as those whohave the courage to criticize courage may come from mutualunderstanding.i think a man of courage will value truth and justice, and nothesitate in his actions to do what he thinks is right, there is no such word asfear in his dictionary.

so many people underestimate the power and importance of a smile, that simple little facial expression characterized by an upward curving of the corners of the mouth.

a smile has many meanings: pleasure, friendliness, welcome, amusement, and many more; and it is part of a universal body language that doesnsquo;t need any extra interpretation.

plus a smile, with all its simplcity and beauty, can be a very important factor in many aspects of our lives:

you fall in love with a new country you visit because its people greet you with a welcoming smile everywhere you go; other countries you just donsquo;t like even though they might have more history, nature, entertainment and whatnot because their people donsquo;t seem so friendly or accepting.

you feel like buying from a certain store when the vendor welcomes you in with a smile, sometimes even if you wouldnsquo;t intially have bought anything; and in other stores, even though they have exactly what you need or better, you decide to walk away because the vendor doesnsquo;t look welcoming at all.

you want to give a waiter a good tip when he serves you with a smile, even if the food turns out not that good; on the other hand, sometimes yousquo;ll have some of the best food ever, but you wonsquo;t feel like giving the waiter a tip, even if you do, because he was grumpy.

more and more examples from our everyday life show how much a simple smile can change everything.

forever engraved in my mind will be the smiling faces of the people of thailand, the friendly pizza delivery boy, the welcoming supermarket vendor, the nice cashier at the bank, …etc.

it is these smiles that keep me wanting to go back, and that keep us all wanting to go back; looking at it from another view, if we break it down using business sense, a smile is one of the most effective means to generate sales and develop customer loyalty.

on top of all that, a smile is a very simple and easy thing to do, so it amazes why no one bothers to do it, it not only makes the person in front of you better, but it also makes you feel better as well, and isquo;m not making this up, it has been psychologically proven.

personally, isquo;d like to see more smiling faces in this world; in the airports when i enter a new country, in companies, government agencies, restaurants, hotels, banks, everywhere; and i think it is up to governments to campaign about this, and even make it obligatory in certain important places like airports, hospitals, hotels…etc.

in my 18 years of life, there have been many things. university days are the best part of them. i can never forget the days when i stepped into my university. i was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. i at once fell in love with it.

after the arduous military training, i get absolutely absorbed in my studies. the classes given by the teachers are excellent. they provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. they easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as i can.

frankly speaking, at first i had some difficulty following the teachers. however, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, i made remarkable progress. now i've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.

learning is a long process; i'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. this summer i got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. a publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.

at the beginning i was belittled by my colleagues. but they were really surprised when i translated seven english articles over 5,000 words on only one day.

gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. in their opinion i turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.

i also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. so i often take part in activities concerning public welfare. i once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. we taught the kids there who could not afford school.

while showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, i was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. i couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. the precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.

besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. i do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. we also write a play and put it on in our spare time.

campus life is the most splendid time. but different people have different choices. the majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one day they'll become outstanding. but there are indeed some students still under ignorance. they gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards.

they're busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. they forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland.

finally, i do hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. i do hope everybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society!

i have a question for you. squo;do you know how to breathe?squo; okay, i know what you are thinking now, girl, are you kidding me? everybody knows how to breathe. actually, if i were you sitting down in there one year ago, i would think, how did she make it to the final?

alright, seriously speaking, what i am talking about is the art of breathing, and itsquo;s about breathing in a yoga way: peacefully and always under control. what it reveals is the real essence of perseverance, in order to achieve, sometimes, you need to wait. and when it comes to things you really want in life, it is as hard as it could possibly be.

for me, singing is a life thing. when i am singing on the stage, i feel whole-heartedly involved, and the self-fulfillment it renders is inexplicably thrilling. but with all the realistic problems i need to face in life, all those i want seem too far to be true– so far that i am terrified that i will never ever be able to get there and that gradually i will be carried away by the currents and torrents of life. isquo;ve been drowned into this ambivalence for so long. now, with a refined perspective towards self-realization, i am waiting, in a graceful posture, and knowing that i am going to get there. and on this, i should say, i owe yoga a thank-you.

i still remember, about one year ago, i attended a yoga course for the very first time. and to tell you the truth, i went there for a nice figure. however, after practicing for some time, i discovered that there was an ineffable inner-strength burgeoning sneakily in me while i totally focused. in order not to let go this significant power, i started to picture all i wanted in my mind while i was fully concentrating, for i believe the wings of imagination could make things possible. i learned to breathe with my dreams, shaping the eagerness into this elegant gesture of persisting.

and now, if you ask me what exactly is the art of breathing, i would say it is indeed the art of living. it combines the search of balance, the grace of patience, and the awareness of appreciation.

so even though feelings are tied up with life routines, i could still hold onto that free ego which i have always adored: the girl who is singing under the spotlight, with all her heart and soul; the girl who is persevering with all she believes in and always feels grateful for what has been bestowed on her.

that girl is now standing right here in front of you, hoping that you are all as lucky as she is, living with dreams and love. no matter how tough things get, i tell myself, i tell myself that, every single thing i am doing now is every step closer to that very moment of my trajectory, just like every yoga breath to every blossom moment of my life.
